The Lakeside Redemption

by Obsidian Tongue

/
1.
The autumnal shroud graced every domain I have ever claimed Cancered golds like sirens to my ancient spirit Ten gorgeous deaths stand as my overtures To aeons of self deprivation and service - my masterpiece Zenith of defiance in the name of love Karmic smite to find my brother-souls lost in savage spheres And I crashed down to earth To suffer and drown And to a child become a guide "A mentor traced in silver Earthbound conveyor of sepulchral lore" Time is blazing towards your final days, my child A lapse in your pulse is slated to carry you out - and onwards - even before I Singular witness The only eyes to see my form In years of confidence Dual fates have been sealed But there is a dread never before known A new sense of grief and loathing on an old plight The moonlight shines in his eyes with eternal eagerness It deserves to thrive for decades denied Must my presence be the beginning and the end To this advent of psychic conception bound in flesh? Must all brilliance be cancered? "Hidden in a whisper A seed of purpose without time to grow The ghost and the lake are fading from view Where I'm going I cannot be followed" To black oblivion... Fear ripples from his heart I can see it just like on the water "I collapse onto the wet leaves Entombed alive - catatonic The ghost strokes my hair and softly sings The melody rouses a new cogniscience" But there is still time to bear a unity! You can embody the golden medium! I killed myself to share with you all that I know If you don't learn your true identity, All this will have been in vain... The autumnal shroud graced his farewell Cancered Gold Sentinel triumphant His spiritual lineage burning through his crown "A bleeding candle in the fog of dawn The clouds gather as I climb the hill of graves Time for the storm of electricity To take me home" Once again, the silver vortex Breaks through the soul-claiming clouds A serpentine arm of my master Spiraling down to take me out of the water and back home A lakeside redemption A noble epilogue My sanctum is now reunited The old servants of youth The old guardians of art We stand complete in the fields of violet

about

Immediately following the extensive 2013 US tour in support of "A Nest of Ravens in the Throat of Time", a cyclone of internal unrest and fresh musical inspiration struck the ground in the form of what would be known as "The Lakeside Redemption". Guided by the pact recently made between us and our comrades in Autolatry, In Human Form, and Infera Bruo, to create a split LP together in which each band contributes a song around 15 minutes in length, the love for these bands and the region we all share softly sculpted the edges of the music.

In Autumn of 2014 the song was recorded deep in the woods of Connecticut by Dave Kaminsky at Studio Wormwood. A morning walk through the wilderness on the second day provided the lyrics: A supernatural tale of endless self sacrifice to a spiritual brotherhood spanning countless reincarnations, set against an overtly New England backdrop.

Originally released on cassette as the intended 4-way split "Northeastern Hymns" by Acephale Winter Productions in early 2015, the tracks provided by us and Infera Bruo were then used as a vinyl release on Bindrune Recordings, as we both had been freshly signed to the label.

Cassette 4-Way split with Autolatry, In Human Form and Infera Bruo is available here: acephalewinter.bandcamp.com/album/northeastern-hymns

2-way split vinyl from Bindrune Recordings available here: shop.bindrunerecordings.com/collections/bindrune-titles/products/obsidian-tongue-us-infera-bruo-us-split-12
